"The Art of Mentorship" by Linus Okorie


 "The Art of Mentorship" was an inspiring topic which was taught by Linus Okorie- President of Guardians of the Nation International, at the Leadership Forum which held last night at the GOTNI premises.
The meeting which started by 6:30pm had over 30 change makers in attendance with the zeal to be mentored.
Mr. Okorie shared his experience with his mentors, as a learning process which was not all smooth but because he wanted to make a difference, he had to be patient and consciously make up his mind to be groomed, which according to him most people don't have the patience to do. He says that for a learning process to take place, you have to first of all UNLEARN the negative to RE-LEARN the positive.

LINUS OKORIE CONDEMNS THE EMAB PLAZA BOMB BLAST

GOTNI PRESIDENT HOLDS MEETING WITH BRITISH HIGH COMMISSIONER- GETS ENDORSEMENT




Guardians of the Nation International (GOTNI) a non -profit organization with the sole aim of affecting the live of Nigerians positively by instilling leadership values into them.
The president and founder of Guardians of the Nation International, Linus Okorie in a closed door meeting with the British High Commissioner in Nigeria, Andrew Pocock expressed gratitude to the Ambassador for an opportunity to share some of his thoughts on leadership with him.
 Mr. Pocock reiterated his gratitude as he shared his experiences during his first visit in Nigeria in 1983-1986 when Lagos was the Federal capital of Nigeria, and since then he has been to other African countries like Zimbabwe, Tanzania, to mention but a few.
Pocock who spoke to GOTNI crew, says that leadership is a simple word but has a big concept which matters in every sphere of life ranging from the family, to companies and to countries especially a country like Nigeria.
According to Pocock, Nigeria is a country of enormous potential. It is a country of great size. He stressed on the fact that Nigeria’s size and resources alone does not guarantee its stability, success or the fulfillment of its potential, he says that what Nigeria needs is a catalyst.
Mr. Pocook says leadership is not a thing for a group of selected people, but for all, particularly young people who would engage in a number of things like to base their approach to live and leadership on some foundation of core values like integrity and effort.
Andrew Pocock who is one of the keynote speakers at the forthcoming emerging leaders conference, he advised young people to put in more effort to maximize their personal potential if they want to be great and successful. On a final note, he expressed his gratitude to the president- Linus Okorie for the opportunity to be speak at the conference and to associate with GOTNI.

Guardians of the Nation International –GOTNI over the years has been known for its Leadership values and precept. GOTNI under the leadership of Linus Okorie who is the president was founded nineteen years ago and has ever since then been known for building and grooming leaders from different works of life.
The president of Guardians of the Nation International in a brief meeting with the Group Managing Director Heritage Bank, Ifie Sekibo stressed on the need for Nigerians to embrace good leadership and followership. According to him, the youths are eager to see a new dawn when it comes to leadership and core competences in the part of our existing leaders. 
The group MD and Chief Executive of Heritage Bank expressed his warmth at the visit by the team, concurring with the truth about the need for a change which he says is a personal effort that the individual must make. He cited countries like the United States of America where leadership is more practical than in words.
Speaking with the GOTNI crew, the MD Heritage Bank endorsed Guardians of the Nation International (GOTNI) for the leadership attributes it has acquired over the years and pledged to support the organization to achieve its vision of reorienting the minds of Nigerians.
Mr. Sekibo who is a true epitome of leadership, expressed his satisfaction with the great course and encouraged Mr. Okorie to keep up the good work as it is expedient that we follow the right part in leadership.
Mr. Sekibo he is an accountant, a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountant (ICAN), and an Alumni of Harvard Business School amongst others. He shared with the GOTNI crew his leadership vision of achieving a higher calling even without having the resources needed for the calling. According to him, "A leader is one who is able to achieve something without the necessary apparatus readily available."
He also stated core values a leader must imbibe, such as clear service, followership, character, tenacity (staying power), and empathy.
Mr Sekibo expressed his gratitude to the president of GOTNI for appointing him as a keynote speaker at the forth coming EMERGING LEADERS CONFERENCE, he believes that the conference will bring the basics of leadership to the fore knowledge of all present.He also used the medium to  encourage young leaders, to be part of the conference.
Meanwhile, on a lighter note, Mr Sekibo thanked the president of GOTNI- Linus Okorie for the opportunity, and endorsed her new platform – THE WOMEN MENTORSHIP PROGRAAMME.

Mr Linus Okorie teaches high school students on core values


Mr Linus Okorie, the President of Guardians of the Nation International -GOTNI visited Model secondary school, Maitama, Abuja and spoke with the out going senior secondary students on "Making a difference", stressing on the need to become people of honor and integrity and becoming a voice in the, and living life deliberately.
Also speaking in the meeting, the President also urged them to think differently and never allow their background to stop them from making progress in life or all their endeavors, using his life story as a point of reference. At the end of the meeting, both the students and the principle expressed their heart felt gratitude.
